Best Hybrid Table Saw 2015

What do you do, if you want to build a new staircase, or put in a new floor, but do not want to have wood dust blown in places that you would not even think that need to be cleaned? You can either call upon the services of someone who owns a hybrid table saw or you buy a hybrid table saw yourself. The third choice would be to use a cabinet table saw but, because they are so expensive, it would be absurd to buy one for a single project and the businesses that do buy one are usually very expensive themselves.

So whether you have a home project or you are a contractor that wants to be able to offer that little bit extra that will separate you from the crowd of contractors, you can use a hybrid table saw. That is because the biggest difference between a table saw and a hybrid is not the weight, which is not that big, but the dust collection system. Of course finding the best hybrid table saw can be a challenge which is why we tested some of the best and came up with 3 choices that will fit any tastes and wallet size. We are going to start with a table, highlighting the most important features of each product, and then we are going to move into our in depth hybrid table saws reviews.

The Rockwell RK7241S is the lightest hybrid table saw on the market in 2014, and it is able to boast achieve that light weight because it uses a foldable dust bag, instead of the bulkier, cabinet style systems that its competitors use. However, everything else about the Rockwell RK7241S is super heavy duty, including the 15 Amps motor, capable of spinning the rip blade at 4,800 RPM. What is even more impressive than that is the telescopic fence that can stretch out and measure up to 30 inches to the right, and leaves another 11 inches to the left. That means you can basically use this hybrid table saw to cut a 4 by 8 sheet of wood in half.

The 2 things that really make the difference between the Rockwell RK7241S and a simple table saw are the dust bag and laser precision. The very reason why you would buy a hybrid table saw is because of its powerful vacuum and bag system and we have to admit that we were more than impressed with how well the wood dust was collected and how precise the laser pointer was. The final thing that we need to highlight for you is the fact that this is one of the few hybrid table saws that can actually cut through a 4 by 4 piece of wood thanks to its 3 – 9/16 cutting depth.

The advantage with the Rockwell is that it is almost as affordable as a simple table saw, but the obvious disadvantage is that it is not that different than a regular table saw. However, all of that changes with the Grizzly G0715P, which is a true hybrid table saw, both from a features and a price perspective. For one its motor’s performance is measured in horse power, not Amps, and it has a 2 horse power motor capable of spinning that blade at 3850 RPM. Speaking of the cutting blade, the Grizzly G0715P is capable of using both a regular rip blade and a dado blade.  Its rip capacity is pretty similar to the Rockwell at 30 inches to the right and 12 inches to the left. However, it is capable of processing a lot more wood dust, partially because its engine is capable of producing a lot more of it. The Grizzly G0715P uses a 4 inches dust port capable of handling a war wind of wood dust. Of all the hybrid table saws we are featuring in this article, this is our favorite because of all these features and because it was able to drum up a 4.2 star rating on Amazon.

The first thing to highlight about the Jet 708494K is that it has earned a 4.4 star rating on Amazon, but the reason why it is not our favorite is that you have to buy an upgrade for the miter gouge in order to use a dado blade which you have to order separately anyway. Except for that though, we have to admit that the Jet 708494K is a much easier to transport table saw, and therefore is much closer to a hybrid table saw than is the Grizzly. The motor on the Jet 708494K is also somewhat weaker at 1-3/4 HP, but that is still strong enough to cut through any type of wood as long as you have to proper amperage on your power line. The really impressive thing about the Jet 708494K is the fact that you have to option to buy it with a 52 inch rip fence, which is the biggest size fence we have featured on any type of table saw to date. It is only matched by the fences on cabinet saws. The one other thing that you need to take into consideration is the fact that the wings are made of cast iron, which makes this a pretty heavy table. It gets even heavier if you choose the 52 inch fence so take that into consideration when you order. However, the advantage is that, with the added weight you get a lot more stability.

Conclusion

The Grizzly G0715P is the true embodiment of a hybrid table saw because of its powerful motor, ability to use dado blades and 4 inches dust port, and for that reason we think it is the best hybrid table saw on the market in 2014. However, there are other options open to you with the Rockwell RK7241S, which is the most affordable hybrid table saw you are ever going to find. Also, you should not discount that impressive 52 inches fence on the Jet 708494K, particularly since its price is so close to that of the Grizzly.
